Colombo Chief Magistrate Rashmi Singappuli today ordered the Prisons Department to send former women's political wing leader of Liberation Tigers of Tamil Ealam (LTTE) for rehabilitation.
Accordingly, former women's political wing leader of LTTE Subramanium Shivathavi, a.k.a. Thamilini is to be transferred to the Punthottam rehabilitation camp of Vavuniya.
Criminal Investigation Department (CID) informed court that instructions have come from the Attorney General to commence the rehabilitation of Thamilini.
CID was granted permission to visit her in prison and to seek her consent regarding rehabilitation. Court reported her consent for the rehabilitation programme to the court today.
Thamilini was arrested three years ago after the end of war as she was in a refugee camp with her family.
