Petroleum shortage anticipated in Sri Lanka during festive season

Sri Lanka Association of Petroleum Transport Bowser Owners have decided to suspend all transports today (09th) and tomorrow (10th).

The action is expected to have a repercussion of the country experiencing shortage of fuel supplies during the festive season.

The bowser owners demand the transport charges increased by 25%. They say the Minister of Petroleum Industry Susil Prema Jayantha also agreed to a 20% increase although the officials had not granted it.

They have rejected the 18% increase granted to them by the Ceylon Petroleum Stores Terminals Corporation.

The association has membership of around 600 bowser owners.
