Sri Lanka Fisheries Corporation to open two more fish canning factories

The secretary of Sri Lanka Ministry of Fisheries Mahil Senarathna says that two more fish canning factories will be set up soon.

A fish canning facility was opened yesterday by the President Mahinda Rajapaksa at Galle as a joint venture of Sri Lanka Fisheries Corporation and a private company.

Similarly, two more such factories are to be set up in Mundalama in Puttalam district and Peliyagoda in Gampaha district, the official says.

The investment for these two factories have been estimated as Rs. 500 million.

The Peliyagoda factory is expected to be opened before the end of this year. Tinned fish produced by these companies are sold under Ceyfish brand.
