Sri Lanka's former President Mahinda Rajapaksa vowed on May 22nd that he would change the system soon.
"We shall change this. Before long, we shall change," he said to a violently cheering crowd in the Buddhist temple.
He said this addressing religious function held in Mahawapi temple in Ampara in the Eastern Province.
The former President highlighted in his speech that those who voted Swan were from Northern and Eastern Province. He said they have voted to change the President but not the Prime Minister.
He lamented that the investigations conducted against corruption of his regime were acts of revenge.
